Abstract Curves of growth for the two components of Equulei, constructed from the resolved and unblended Fe I lines, and a direct comparison of the equivalent widths are discussed. The parameters of the curves of growth and the abundances of the elements in the atmospheres are found to be equal. Excitation and ionization temperatures, derived on the assumption that the electron pressures are the same, showed no differences. The formation of binaries with such similar components on the assumption of random selection of the components is shown to be unlikely.
