Abstract

We design and simulate a new optical CDMA network transmission scheme that exploits differentiation of the signals' energies at the transmitters to allow several users to transmit concurrently. In addition, the proposed system uses error control encoding and soft-decision demodulation to reduce the multi-user interference at the receivers. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme allows achieving higher spectral efficiencies than several reported results for optical CDMA transmission and that a spectral efficiency more than six times higher than the Gaussian CDMA capacity limit can be achieved.
