Abstract

During my graduate education and postdoctoral training, I learned many of the same things the scientists and authors I now work with did: how to organize and manage time, and how to plan and execute experiments. I also attended courses to increase my public speaking, presentation, and storytelling skills. However, I never learned, nor sought to learn, how to make attractive, yet informative, scientific figures.
