Abstract

Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems have recently been envisioned in the molecular communication (MC) realm, due to their desirable properties of improving the system performance. Despite the existence of robust index modulation (IM) schemes, intersymbol interference (ISI) and interlink interference (ILI) problems still impact the system performance due to the inherent nature of diffusion-based molecular multipleinput multiple-output (Mo-MIMO) systems. Inspired by this, a novel coded modulation scheme named spatio-temporal molecular coded modulation (STMCM) is proposed in this paper. The proposed STMCM scheme can combat ISI and ILI-caused errors effectively, improving the overall error performance of Mo-MIMO systems.
