Abstract

We point out that the simplest embedding of the SU(2) L × U(1) weak interaction model in N = 1 supergravity leads to an effective theory at low energies with a softly broken Peccei-Quinn symmetry. The combined impact of this soft breaking and supergravity is then to produce a finite and negligible small strong CP parameter: θ ≲ 10 −20, thus predicting invisible strong CP violation.
