Abstract

The unit circle problem is the problem of finding the number of eigenvalues of a matrix <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">A</tex> inside and outside the unit circle. It is associated with stability analysis of the system <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">x_{k+1} = Ax_{k}</tex> . An algorithm is developed in this paper to solve the problem via Schwarz canonical form.
