Abstract

A Solution-generating theorem due to Bonnor is generalized and applied to several well-known space-times. The main purpose of the study is to investigate one of the many solution-generating theorems in some detail. The applications lead toa) a static electrovacuum solution which contains both the Reissner-Nordstrom and Robinson-Bertotti solutions as special cases,b) a negative-mass Schwarzschild solution associated with a positive-mass Reissner-Nordstrom solution,c) the Patnaik static electrovacuum solution associated with the Taub planesymmetry vacuum solution,d) one of the Witten electrovacuum solutions for a charged wire associated with the Weyl-Levi-Civita cylindrically symmetric vacuum solution,e) a stationary electrovacuum solution which contains both a stationary generalization of the Robinson-Bertotti solution and the Kerr-Newman solution as special cases.
