Abstract

AbstractMany polymers suffer from excessive heat generation during processing due to high viscosity, and reduction of viscosity is desired to control the melt temperature during processing. The concept of solid solvent was recently proposed based on thermally reversible compatibility between a polymer‐additive pair. Benzenesulfonamide was found to be virtually a perfect solid solvent for polystyrene, and this finding clearly proves that solid solvents can be used as processing aid for polymers to effectively reduce the viscosity.
