Abstract

Pile foundation is one of the common type of foundations used to support structures resting in weak soils and in offshore environments. Piles are generally subjected to compressive loads. The development of tension leg platform (TLP) technology for offshore structures has increased the interest in the behaviour of piles under tensile loads. This paper presents a numerical model developed for the prediction of pile behaviour under tensile loads. The principle and algorithm of the computer program developed for the numerical model is presented. The results obtained from the computer program are compared with the experimental results. Possible improvements to the program are proposed.
