Abstract

Many of the proposed soft switching inverter topologies only permit inverter switching at sampled instants in time (ΣΔM). There have also been some efforts to combine the benefits of soft switching with the well established pulse-width modulation (PWM) technique. This paper reviews a proposed topology and analyses its operation in terms of device stresses and PWM capability. The effects of load variations and resonant tank design are considered. A modified PWM technique is proposed and implemented. Simulation as well as experimental results are given.
