Abstract

With the dawning of the 21st century, the demand for energy continues to rise. The building sector has emerged as a major energy consumer, prompting energy engineers to devise techniques for enhancing energy efficiency and conservation in this sector. Accordingly, the term energy-efficient buildings, which refers to the use of renewable energy sources (RESs) for generating power, is beginning to draw the attention of researchers. Since RESs, storage units, and consumers? multiple appliances in a given building are dispersed, the deployment of a suitable energy management system has become essential.
