Abstract

ABSTRACTA seismic field investigation on a reduced scale is described. A falling weight was used as the source of energy, with a recording system which permitted the display on a cathode ray oscillograph of two dimensional pictures of ground displacement in the vertical plane containing the source. These permit a quantitative study of the magnitude and direction of displacement and of the instantaneous velocity of motion.
