Abstract

Summary Small inbound tour operators, around the world, live in a competitive environment. They fight to carve out a profitable business niche. The success of this normally depends on collaboration with other operators and good relations with their local tourism authority. Experience Jordan Adventures (EJA), based in Amman, moved beyond this, reaching out to international organizations for support. In particular, they have taken advantage of their membership of the Adventure Travel and Tourism Association (ATTA) to make contacts and establish relationships with funding bodies such as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Jordanian Action for the Development of Enterprises (JADE). With their partners’ help, EJA has become a driver and developer of new adventure products, such as the Jordan Trail, a long-distance walking route, and the Jordan Bike Trail. These have brought economic value to remoter communities in Jordan. Information © The Authors 2023
