Abstract

The medium temperature carbonisation of coal refers to the process of decomposition of coal by heating to 700°C in absence of air. It is one of the important ways of coal utilisation. Small/wide angle X-ray scattering (SAXS/WAXS) can be used to study the pore and carbon matrix structure of coal. Recently, a small furnace for in-situ study of medium temperature carbonisation of coal by simultaneous or respective SAXS and WAXS was developed and integrated into the SAXS instrument at the 1W2A station of Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility (BSRF). A test on a kind of non-caking coal shows that the furnace works well, and the experimental result is reasonable. [Received: January 5, 2021; Accepted: March 2, 2021]
