Abstract

This paper presents the design of a small antenna for Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN). The proposed antenna consists of two circular rings that are connected using a rectangular strip and a lollipop like structure in the centre. Similar remnants are stretched out on either side of the half ground plane. The outer and inner circular ring is connected by a rectangular strip to operate in UWB frequency. The remnant helps in achieving a good match at a lower frequency. The size of the designed antenna is 35mm×26.6mm (931 mm2). The substrate used is an FR4 epoxy substrate that has a thickness of 1.6 mm and a relative permittivity of 4.4. The antenna can operate in the WiMAX band, and WLAN band.
