Abstract

This paper deals with the design of a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)-antenna for the proposed European Remote Sensing Satellite. Electrical performance requirements and geometric constraints impose stringent conditions upon structural configuration and mechanical tolerances. A slotted waveguide array antenna is presented in a deployable configuration. It is composed of 5 radiating panels, and a foldable truss structure. Carbon fibre reinforced plastic material is used for structural elements and waveguides.
