Abstract

A slot-shaped UWB monopole antenna with frequency rejections in WLAN and WiMAX bands is proposed and investigated by using the HFSS. To achieve the dual-band frequency rejection characteristics, two arc-shaped resonators and a cross-shaped resonator are proposed and integrated into the circular-ring-shaped monopole wide slot antenna, which can operate on a wide frequency band ranging from 3GHz to 12 GHz with voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) less than 2, except for the two notch bands whose operating bands are 3.6–3.8GHz WiMAX and 4.8–5.85GHz WLAN. Simulated results obtained from the HFSS show that the proposed antenna can meet the UWB applications with respect to the wide bandwidth and omnidirectional radiation patterns, and can filter out unwanted narrowband signals from the WLAN band and WiMAX communication systems.
