Abstract

A large-scale information storage and retrieval system implemented for the processing and analysis of human sleep EEG data is described. It contains programs which facilitate data entry and updating, error checking and corection, report generation, statistical computations, data retrieval, data protection and the establishment and management of a central data base. The system is used for analyzing human sleep patterns, REM periods, sleep and penile tumescence patterns in various clinical and experimental conditions, and biochemistry and pharmacology of sleep. The analysis result can be printed in the form of over 10 different types of reports or retrieved by using a retrieval language designed for the system user.
