Abstract

In this paper, a single-switch, coupled inductor based quadratic high step-up dc-dc converter with low switch voltage stress and continuous input current converter is introduced. The proposed converter utilizes coupled inductors in its topology which contributes to high conversion ratio. Only one switch is implemented in the proposed converter and a passive clamp circuit is used in order to decrease switching losses and increase efficiency. The input current of the proposed converter is continuous and this makes it a suitable candidate for renewable energy applications such as photovoltaics and fuel cells since continuous input current contributes to small input filters. The operation principles of the proposed converter are discussed, and simulations have been carried out in order to validate the operation of the converter. Moreover, the introduced converter is compared to other similar topologies in different basis such as voltage gain, efficiency, number of components and voltage stress on switch.
