Abstract
A single-roll thin-strip casting process has been described and the effect of operating parameters on the strip quality experimentally studied concerning mainly casting speed and nozzle location angle. As a result, an optimum operating condition has been established which shows that the nozzle location angle is an important factor. A large nozzle location angle tends to lead to strip jamming, whereas a small angle gives rise to production of narrow strips with poor surface quality.
