Abstract

Abstract A single frequency (SF), continuous wave (CW), linear cavity Tm-doped fiber laser with π phase-shifted fiber Bragg grating (FBG) as ultra-narrow filter has been proposed and demonstrated. This proposed laser is stable operating at central wavelength of 1941.98 nm with a maximum output power of 65 mW. The SF operation of the laser was confirmed by method of self-homodyne. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first report of a SF, CW, linear cavity Tm-doped fiber laser with π phase-shifted FBG filter.
