Abstract

Basaltic rocks contain magnetic grains oriented randomly in a nonmagnetic matrix. Experimental studies of low-field hysteresis of such rocks have shown partially and totally constricted hysteresis loops for some specimens. A possible origin of these constricted loops on the basis of interacting single domain behaviour is suggested.
