Abstract

Telomerization is a convenient and versatile tool to valorize 1,3-butadiene into diverse value-added specialty chemicals in a 100% atom-economical manner. One focus in the research and development of the telomerization process is to search for a stable heterogeneous catalyst with high activity and excellent selectivity. In this study, we reported a single-atom Pd catalyst anchored on a PPh3 built-in porous organic polymer (named Pd1@POP) for telomerization of 1,3-butadiene with methanol. The Pd1@POP catalyst exhibited superior catalytic activity with excellent chemo- and regioselectivity, which is comparable to that of a homogeneous Pd catalyst in the presence of a PPh3 ligand. More importantly, the Pd1@POP catalyst is readily applicable for a large scale-up reaction with up to 38,812 TON and could be facilely recovered for successive reuses up to 11 times with a negligible change in activity and selectivity, highlighting great potential for practical application.
