Abstract

ABSTRACT A polarimeter capable of making observations in the optical and near infrared is described. The instrument achieves very small (≲ 0.03%) instrumental polarization coupled with high efficiency over a very wide wavelength range. We present UBVRIJHK polarization measurements of a number of standard stars with large interstellar polarizations, and use them to compile composite interstellar polarization curves.
