Abstract

AbstractTo improve the black start capability of microgrids, this paper proposes a control strategy of energy storage assistance. First, it explores the advantages and feasibility of energy storage devices in a black start. Then, it figures out a method to realize the establishment and maintenance of both voltage and frequency of a microgrid system through VF (voltage and frequency) control. Second, this paper puts forward a control strategy of energy storage assisted black start. Specifically, with the energy storage battery as the black start power source, after the systecy3m self-check, the battery automatically outputs power to the system and establishes the voltage and frequency through VF control. Then, according to the actual loads, the gas turbines are connected to the system after the system stabilizes. Finally, based on the Simulink platform, a microgrid with energy storages, combustion turbines and loads is built to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the energy storage assisted black start strategy. Consequently, the simulation results prove that the strategy can significantly improve the black start speed and enhance the stability of the microgrid system.KeywordsBlack-startEnergy StorageVF control
