Abstract

The development of an event-driven simulator is presented. It allows to model any network of queues using a general purpose language. A simple scheme is proposed to manipulate queues made-up of mixed type customers. The application to packet-switched computer communication networks is considered to illustrate the implementation scheme. The simulator has a modular logical structure, so that any level of detail may be easily included. A sample network is simulated, and the obtained preliminary results are compared with a mathematical model.
