Abstract

In this paper we investigate the use of an interference suppressing scheme based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) for ultra wideband (UWB) radios in a multiuser scenario corresponding to the uplink of a wireless system with multiple users transmitting to a base station. In order to enable decoding of multiple users at the receiver, we employ multicarrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) in which distinct users are assigned distinct codes for transmission. Bit error rate (BER) performance of the scheme is evaluated through numerical simulations for additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), multipath channels, and narrowband interference, with various choices for user codes.
