Abstract

The article presents an original simulation model of a wind farm consisting of 30 wind generators, that allows assessment of the possibility of wind farm participation in frequency and voltage regulation in the electrical power system. A control system is proposed and implemented in the model including: primary frequency regulation with synthetic inertia and secondary regulation available on request from the system operator. Simulation tests were conducted in PSCAD/EMTDC environment for equivalent electrical power system model composed of the wind farm, a synchronous generator and a dummy load. The performance of the wind farm control system was analysed and control capabilities of the farm were assessed. Some research results are presented and discussed in the paper.
