Abstract
An ideal prehospital triage system would minimize undertriage while concomitantly optimizing resources by keeping overtriage low. Unfortunately, in an effort to reduce the preventable mortality and morbidity associated with undertriage, many triage systems have adopted an extensive list of patient variables that are neither scientifically validated nor easy to use. This study prospectively evaluated a four-variable triage system at a single Level II trauma center.
