Abstract

We present a procedure to predict d max (maximum stable diameter) that avoids tedious iterative calculation. The method presented is valid for any value of C (an empirical constant depending on the configuration of the vessel and the impeller. For a Rushton impeller its value is 8) and is thus applicable to geometries other than those of standard Rushton impellers. The procedure is developed on the basis of certain simplifications introduced into the model of Kumar et al. (1992)
