Abstract

Abstract A simplification of the platelet factor 3 assay for the rapid detection of platelet isoantibodies and an antiplatelet factor in autoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura (ATP) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is described. The test can be used for HL-A typing of platelets and can detect antibodies undetectable by complement fixation. Preliminary results suggest antigenic specificity of the antiplatelet factor found in the sera of some patients with ATP and SLE.
