Abstract

The buckling and postbuckling behavior of simply supported orthotropic composite rectangular plates in uniaxial compression and lateral pressure is studied by a deflection-type perturbation technique applied to the generalized Karman equations. Comparisons of the predictions by the approach with experiments and other analytical results are made and show that agreement between the present theory and experiments is reasonably better.
