Abstract
This paper presents a nonlinear finite element analysis (NLFEA) procedure employing a smeared rotating crack macro-modeling approach for analysis of reinforced concrete structures under hard missile impacts. It represents a middle ground between simplified methods based on single degree of freedom (SDOF) systems and complex meso-or micro-element hydrocodes. Three hard missile impact tests were modeled and the results were compared with experimental results in terms of residual velocity, damage shape, and impact depth. Good correlations were obtained.
