Abstract

The ideal management of presumably benign ovarian tumors (PBOTs) should be minimally invasive and follow the principles of surgical oncology. We have developed a surgical technique in which a 5 mm diameter balloon trocar (introduced through a 30 mm midline incision) is used to treat a large PBOT. This minimally invasively and easy-to-reproduce technique provides a perfect seal around the bursa during aspiration of the cyst contents.
