Abstract

To the Editor: Fibrosing alopecia in a pattern distribution (FAPD) is a primary cicatricial alopecia (PCA) characterized by rarefaction of hair on the centroparietal scalp with histopathologic evidence of androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and lichen planopilaris.1-3 Diagnostic criteria for FAPD have recently been proposed and include symmetrical hair loss in androgen-dependent areas with sparing of the occipital scalp and supporting trichoscopic features including hair shaft diameter variability, follicular hyperkeratosis, and loss of follicular ostia.
