Abstract
Placement of distal interlocking screws into femoral and tibial nails is an exacting technique. Many techniques are described, each with their advantages and disadvantages. We describe an alternative technique using the "third point in space." This method has been successfully used in > 30 cases. It is universal, reproducible, and inexpensive, avoiding the use of distal targeting guides, expensive radiolucent drills, or visual estimations of alignment.
