Abstract

Due to its voltage-fed nature and a capacitive output filter, the rear-end rectifier of parallel and series–parallel resonant converters with capacitive filters draw discontinuous currents. Not only simple and elegant techniques such as fundamental harmonic approximation (FHA) analysis, but also time-domain, state-space, and state-plane approaches fail to model such converters with reduced labor. This letter presents a technique to restore the simplicity of FHA analysis about such converters. Authenticity and accuracy of the proposed technique is demonstrated through PSIM 11.0 simulation platform. Furthermore, a detailed comparison with the existing modeling techniques is also provided.
