Abstract
A stream-side test system was developed to measure direct lethal and behavioral effects of pesticides on stream insects under simulated natural conditions. The system allowed for quantitative analysis of drift response to pesticide exposure (proportion of test species that drifted), drift profile (drift response over time), survival of displaced insects, and survival of test species remaining in the substrate. The design, procedure, analysis, and advantages of this system are presented.
