Abstract

This instrument has now been placed in the telephone‐exchange in Hilo, Hawaii, and the radio rooms respectively of Canton and Baker islands, for report on time and intensity of local earthquakes by postal card to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (or by radiophone).It is an annunciator (Fig. 1) with electric bell to show earthquake‐amplitudes 1 to 6 in the range approximately I to IV Rossi‐Forel. The original model has done good work for some years in Hawaii National Park.
