Abstract
There is a need for a simple physical sign to support a diagnosis of the frequent lesion of entrapment of the lateral popliteal nerve. A sign is described which demonstrates impairment of repetitive valgus-varus movements of the foot. The rationale is outlined. The sign is easily provoked, even when there is a communication barrier through language.
