Abstract

The usual methods of making cultures of the feces are laborious and unsatisfactory for the ordinary laboratory since many dilutions and inoculations are necessary to prevent overgrowth by the colon bacilli. The treatment by chemicals such as sodium carbonate or sodium hydroxide may inhibit the more delicate bacteria. It seemed possible that streptococci and other bacteria might be obtained in more than the usual numbers if the inoculations were made
