Abstract

A rapid and efficient method for the preparation of nicotinic acid mononucleotide from nicotinamide mononucleotide is described. Deamidation is effected by the use of nitrosyl chloride at room temperature. The starting material is quantitatively converted to the corresponding acid. During the deamidation some hydrolysis of the ribosyl bond occurs. Yields of 75 to 85% are regularly obtained.
