Abstract

AbstractCatalytic layers of a cobalt tetraphenylporphyrin/polystyrene composite coated on a glassy carbon electrode are shown to allow the reduction of oxygen at less negative potentials than at the bare electrode. When this layer was overcoated with a glucose oxidase (GOD) layer, the glucose could be determined under aerobic conditions. A similar ferrocene/polystyrene composite overcoated with a glucose oxidase layer allowed the determination of glucose under anaerobic conditions.
