Abstract

This paper presents a new method for calculating core temperature rise in large power transformers. A general formulation of the problem is made using the electrical analogy. This formulation extends to the L- and T-joints. An expression for the thermal resistance of the core material is found using analytical methods. A comparison of the results of the new method with measured values on two power transformers is presented.
