Abstract

This paper proposes a differential-fed radiation pattern reconfigurable dipole antenna. The reconfigurable antenna structure consists of a pair of peanut-shape dipole with tandem double U-shape slot, a pair of parasitic elements. The antenna is excited by two differential probes through via holes, thus the size of antenna can be reduced effectively. The connected parasitic element works as a director which can realize radiation pattern reconfigurability. An impedance bandwidth of 15.6% for $\vert \mathrm {S}_{\mathbf {dd}}~\vert < -10$ dB is achieved with an average antenna gain of 6.5 dBi for two states.
