Abstract

A simple continuous-flow cryostat suitable for use with optical microscopes is described. Its working range is from 10K to 350K with stability +or-0.1K. The specimen is mounted within an exchange-gas filled cell to ensure thermal equilibrium. Access to the specimen is via small easily demountable vacuum-tight low-temperature windows made using PTFE gasket seals.
