Abstract

A simple and practical method for calculating radiant heat transfer in a directly heated industrial paper dryer is presented. The paper dryer is modelled as an enclosure of three isothermal surfaces. A short overview of the theory of radiant heat transfer between N surfaces is given. The calculations show good agreement with experimental results. A numerical example of the calculation procedure and a FORTRAN-V program are included.
