Abstract

This paper deals with the assessment of the dynamics of the road vehicles with emphasis on the simplicity of the developed model on one hand and taking into account the dominant variables affecting the propulsion power on the other hand. The study is initiated by a state of the art regarding the modelling of the road vehicles dynamics. Then, a modified bicycle model is developed considering three inputs which are: (i) the wheel speed, (ii) the road slope angle, and (iii) the vehicle loading level, and one output that is the vehicle resistant torque. The paper is achieved by a numerical example aimed at the simulation of the dynamics of a road vehicle under different driving cycles.
