Abstract

The chosen technique for repair of flexor tendons should achieve a strong enough repair to allow healing and withstand early mobilization to prevent adhesions and stiffness. Strong evidence shows that the strength of a repair is almost directly proportional to the number of core sutures.1 Looped sutures2 double the number of core sutures with 1 pass. The most commonly used looped sutures for flexor tendon repair are Supramid (Supramid Extra, S. Jackson, Inc, Alexandria, VA) and cost approximately US $12 per pack.
