Abstract

A method for predicting the terminal settling velocity of a single solid spherical particle in water is described. The terminal velocity is a function of, among others, particle size and the Archimedes number of 0 to 512000. The prediction is in agreement with that by using Stokes law or Allen law or Newton law for drag force and is useful for the modeling of the flotation elementary processes of the particle-bubble interaction.
